  • ✓ Person detection runs on your Mac.
  • ✓ Photos and videos go from your Mac straight to your own Telegram bot, never through NosyPup servers.
  • ✓ A copy stays on your Mac until you delete it, and one is in your Telegram chat.
  • ✓ The camera is on only when you ask: for the preview or while protecting. No audio.
  • ✓ Your bot key stays in your Mac’s Keychain.

  • • Your Mac must stay open and awake. Plugged in helps, but doesn’t guarantee protection.
  • • If your Mac sleeps, loses power or goes offline, alerts can’t be sent.
  • • Alerts depend on the internet and Telegram, and can be delayed.
  • • NosyPup is not a certified alarm or monitoring service.
  • • Only use it where recording is allowed, and respect other people’s privacy.

Do I need Telegram?+

Yes. Alerts are sent through Telegram, using a private bot you create in a couple of minutes. The app walks you through it, including the BotFather part.

Does it work with the lid closed?+

No. The camera needs to see, so your Mac must stay open and awake. Keep it plugged in for longer sessions.

Do my photos and videos go through your servers?+

No. Person detection happens on your Mac, and alerts go from your Mac to your own Telegram bot. Your photos and videos never pass through NosyPup servers.

Will a passing shadow set it off?+

NosyPup looks for people, which is designed to reduce false alerts from changing light and shadows. No detector is perfect, so you can also limit it to the area you care about.
